## Hilma af Klint and Wassily Kandinsky: Dreams of the Future
This book examines the lives and work of Hilma af Klint and Wassily Kandinsky, two pioneers of abstraction working around 1900. It revisits the long-standing view of Kandinsky as the creator of the first abstract artwork in light of the later recognition of af Klint's non-figurative paintings.
Although there is no evidence the two ever met, and both died in 1944, the authors compare their parallel journeys and the spiritual, sociopolitical and personal forces that shaped their practices, supported by over 100 illustrations.
**Best used for:** Art lovers, students of modern art, gifting to gallery-goers.
**Not recommended for:** Readers looking for a practical painting guide.
