Description
Low frequencies usually go everywhere.
Alot of output energy can end up in places where the audience do not benefit from it. Having great low frequencies behind the stage is a waste of power and energy.
It’s for this reason the new WLA-218BX can be easily deployed in an Inverted Stack Gradient Array (iSGA) configuration.
WLA-218BX uses the acclaimed Reason-X 18” subwoofer drivers. With 4.0” voice coils and an impedance boost around 35 Hz, these efficient drivers simply deliver extreme bass.
And, when used in the iSGA configuration, they deliver that bass directly into the face of the audience.
SERIOUS DRIVERS
∮102.6 diameter voice coil.
Thats OVER 4.0″ but we say 4.0″ because of number rounding
Double-layer spider bonding.
Updated glue is used. This bonding can eliminate brittle cracking and reduces harmonic distortion.
112 g Membrane.
The WLA-218BX driver has a heavier membrane which can withstand more power without breaking.
31 mm voice coil cavity.
A larger internal cavity for the coil windings allows WLA-218BX to have lower response by 5 Hz.
6.2 ohm impedance.
The impedance peak is higher in the Reason-X driver at 35 Hz. This results in superior low end strength.
BIRCH PLYWOOD
WLA-218BX is constructed of 18 mm thick Baltic birch plywood.
Not only does this create a solid and durable cabinet, but it also contributes to the overall sound and character.
WLA-218BX is also covered in our most durable and hard wearing Rhino Rock paint finish. This ensures that it will always look as good as the day you unboxed it.

ROUTED LOGO
WLA-218BX features a routed Wharfedale Pro logo.
It is a logo to be proud of. A logo that lets your audience know that the sound of your even will be of the highest possible quality.
AMPS & DSP
A Versadrive DSP (such as SC-48 FIR) or a DP-N series amplifier with internal FIR filtering is highly recommended to get the most from the system. Phase, EQ and filtering should be applied and this way, the physics of the system can be truly optimised – delivering that sub-bass ……directly into the faces of the audience!
WHEELY PRACTICAL
For easy transportation, WLA-218BX is compatible with Wharfedale Pro optional caster wheels.
INVERTED STACK GRADIENT ARRAY (ISGA)
When deployed in an Inverted Stack Gradient Array (iSGA) configuration, WLA-218BX really moves some air !
A front grille speakON compatible connector means that the Gradient Array can easily be built with other subwoofers.
Working together, the phase will combine resulting in more directional low-end frequencies which focus on the audience, rather than backstage.
