The Yamaha FSX820C folk acoustic-electric guitar stems from a long heritage of amazing FG "folk guitar" acoustic guitars and gives you incredible value at an entry-level price. The guitar's combination of premium tonewoods makes it a great value for seasoned players. Its combination of a smaller folk body, solid Sitka spruce top, and mahogany back and sides is responsible for the FSX820C's beautiful voice. And Yamaha's System-66 electronics take that sound onto the stage. Let your guitar-playing journey start with an amazing instrument you'll love playing for years to come - the Yamaha FSX820C folk acoustic guitar.

Yamaha FSX820C Acoustic Guitar at a Glance:

  • Small Body
  • Solid Spruce Top
  • Mahogany Back & Sides
  • Newly Developed Scalloped Bracing
  • Warm and Strong Sound

Genuine Sitka spruce top for great tone

Yamaha chose a solid Sitka spruce top for their FSX820C for both its look and tone. Sitka spruce has a well-rounded, articulate sound with excellent projection. These qualities have made it the undisputed leader for acoustic guitar tops throughout the industry. And because it's a solid-wood top, the tone will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by. And Yamaha improved their scalloped bracing on the FSX820C to allow for more top movement, resulting in a larger low end and more projection.

Mahogany back and sides

The FSX820C sports a back and sides made from mahogany. This really is a go-to tonewood for strummers at Music Experience for its warm tone that is always very balanced. Its rich sound enhances the midrange frequencies while maintaining top-end clarity. The sound is gentle and full, which is ideal for vocal accompaniment. Combined with the lively and defined sound of the spruce top, you'll love the rich tone you get from the Yamaha FSX820C's mahogany.

Yamaha System-66 electronics

The Yamaha FSX820C acoustic-electric guitar also has you covered when it's time to take the stage. The System-66 pickup and preamp electronics deliver the true sound of your guitar's spruce and mahogany tonewoods. The onboard preamp features a 3-band EQ with sweepable mids to help notch out unwanted feedback. It also boasts a fast and reliable tuner to keep your performances sounding great. And the battery compartment is easily accessed on the upper bout of the guitar for quick changes.

Yamaha FG: the best-selling acoustic guitar series in the world

It's not hard to see why Yamaha's FG series is a world best seller: the comfortable dreadnought bodies, professional-grade tonewoods, and fast-playing necks make these acoustics great first instruments for beginners, and solid seconds for seasoned players who need an extra acoustic for the stage or to play around the house.

What Yamaha Says...

When it was introduced in 1966, the Yamaha FG proved that a great acoustic guitar didn’t need to cost a fortune. With a focus on great playability, musical tone and outstanding build quality, the original FG180 quickly became a classic with countless careers and hit records starting life on an FG. 50 years since the introduction of the FG acoustics, the new range features the best-ever FG tone and the same great playability and class-leading quality that’s made it the choice of millions of guitarists. Wherever your musical journey’s going, it all starts here. Derived from FS820 which has the solid spruce top and mahogany back/sides, FSX820C has a cutaway body and the electric system. Yamaha's proprietary under-saddle piezo pickup and System66 analog preamp ensure the solid plugged-in performance. The small and thin body is perfect not only for female/young players but for intermediate to upper level finger-picking style players.
